A father of 4 boys, Steve and Kim moved to the Owatonna community from Shoreview in 1992 with their eldest son, Joe, and second son, Sam, well on the way. Steve opened his agency in Owatonna that year and has been serving the Owatonna community and surrounding areas ever since. Steve channels his joy for coaching and mentoring into the 9th grade and Varsity football teams these days, though he spent 20+ years coaching youth baseball and football in town here. Steve enjoys fishing year-round, hunting with his sons way up north near the Canadian border, skiing, the very occasional round of charity golf, and spending time with his family and friends. Steve is well known in different circles for his deluxe Italian cooking, and routinely gets asked when the next batch of his famous Italian sausage can be expected. Steve is a fully licensed multiple line insurance professional representing American National Insurance, which is a boring way of saying he loves meeting new people, hearing their stories, and helping them design a plan to protect the people and things that matter most in their world.
Sam and his wife Teresa recently moved to Minnesota after spending the previous 2 years in Houston, TX following their graduation from the University of Notre Dame. Sam graduated as a Glynn Family Honors Scholar with a B.S. in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics, but quickly realized that he far preferred interacting with people to talking to calculators and spreadsheets all day. Sam has been around the insurance industry for over 10 years now, going all the way back to high school working on telemarketing and advertising at our agency. After 2 years as a Life Insurance Specialist with an ANPAC agent in Houston, we are very excited to welcome Sam back to our family business. Some of Sam's favorite hobbies include golfing, hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers, traveling, watching the Irish play on Saturdays, and playing with his Golden Retriever, Rudy. Sam is also a fully licensed agent, and is excited to serve the Owatonna community with the same compassionate and transparent approach to Insurance Advising he has learned from his Dad over the years.
Any current client knows that Kim is the life blood of the agency's day to day operations. Though she is newly licensed herself (woot woot!), Kim has been the face of our top-tier agency customer service for over 20 years. The first person you meet when walking through our door, Kim works hard to take care of our clients service needs, and her expertise and support are vital to our agency's success. Mother to the 4 Zappa boys (Joe, Sam, Mike, and Ben), Kim is enjoying the highs and lows that come with being an empty nester after seeing her youngest, Ben, off to his Freshman year of college this Fall. Kim is a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan, which means most Sundays at game time you will find her not far from a TV screen, cheering on the Vikes or, only semi covertly, against the Packers. Kim enjoys listening to country music and going to concerts, playing cards, vacationing in Mexico, hanging out with friends and spending time with her family. Her most recent hobby involves trying to navigate the world of Fantasy Football (who cares about the other guys if they aren't Vikes!).
Jeannie, Kim and Steve's niece, joined the team in 2016 as a Customer Service Representative. She endeavors to provide the same level of excellent service our clients have come to expect at the Zappa Agency. Jeannie manages our agency's scheduling and supports Kim with the day to day operations. She enjoys camping, hanging out with friends and family, working at her parent's restaurant in New Richland on the weekends (check out Red Leaf Café when in the area!), and the occasional Netflix binge.
Marc recently joined the team this past summer as a Risk Advisor. As a long time Varsity football coach and HOF alumni, Marc brings passion and energy to working with our clients to make sure they are protected from the risks we all face throughout life. As he continues to learn, we are excited to see Marc grow within our agency. He enjoys fishing, coaching football, fundraising for the hockey and football organizations, watching his son Zach's games, and smoking meats. Marc's Blue Collar BBQ has quickly become a force to be reckoned with in local competitions, check them out when you get a chance!
